Every website you visit on the Internet can be evaluated to determine the validity of the information resources included on its pages.

You find out if a website is:
  • Current
  • Up-dated regularly

    You can find out:
  • Who hosts the website?
  • Why it is hosted?
  • Who built and maintains the website?
  • What is his/her authority to do so?
  • If there is a contact for the Webmaster?

    You can determine:
  • If there is a strong bias to the website.
  • If there is a statement of purpose and goals.
  • If the statement of purpose reflects content.
  • If criteria are stated for the inclusion of information.

    You can rate a website:
  • As to how well the information is organized.
  • As to whether the information is unique or a compilation of external links.

    Things to watch for:
  • Currrent Date
  • Revision Date
  • Copyright
  • Disclaimer
  • Stated Authority
  • Statement of purpose and goals
  • Bias
  • Geographic Location
  • Active Links
  • Easy Access to Resources
  • Design for "Surfing"
